If approved, you will be published onto the website under 'Who's Entered'. You will also receive an email to inform you that your application has been approved and that you have been assigned to one of our Judges who will listen to your track to decide whether you proceed to Round 2 of the Competition.
If we consider your application is not suitable for the Recording Festival Competition, we shall contact you to see if changes can be made to your application so that we can approve it. Otherwise, your application will be declined and your application fee will be refunded to you in full.
There are two Rounds to the Recording Festival Competition. Everyone who enters automatically qualifies for Round 1.
Round 1 began on Jan 12th 2016 and continues until 30th January 2017 when Round 2 begins. Applications can be received at any time between these dates to be considered for entry into the Competition. All applications, once approved by our moderators, will immediately enter Round 1 and will appear on the website.
The song of each applicant will be listened to by the Recording Festival Judges who, if impressed, will give the green light for the band / artist to proceed to Round 2. The Judges consist of high-profile music industry professionals including record label executives, producers, engineers, artists, radio personalities and writers. The full list of Judges can be found on our 'Meet the Judges' page. Songs are judged equally on melody, composition, performance, originality and lyrics (where applicable). Lyrics may be in any language. Production value will not be considered, although well recorded and mixed demos usually have a stronger chance of impressing the Judges.
Round 2 begins at the start of February 2017 and continues until the Finals and announcement of the winners in Late March 2017. Applicants will be sent an email to notify if you have made it into Round 2 or not. All applicants who have successfully made it through to Round 2 will be listed on the Website when Round 2 is announced on the Website.
Our Judges are encouraged to provide some written feedback on the songs they listen to, but it is not compulsory. If the Judge you are assigned has provided some feedback on your song, this will be sent to you in the email which says whether you have made it into Round 2 or not.
At Round 2, the song of each applicant will be listened to by all of our Judges, and they will independently cast their votes on each song with the same approach to judging on melody, composition, performance, originality and lyrics (where applicable) as in Round 1. The combined votes of the Judges will determine the three Competition Winners. In the event of there being more than 3 applications with an equal number of votes, meaning there are more then 3 potential winners, these applications will be listened to again by all Judges and their votes recast. If three outright winners are not determined by this, the Judges will discuss the potential winners and reach a fair decision as to the three applicants that should become Winners. The decision of the Judges is final.
The three Recording Festival Winners will be announced in Late March/ First week of April 2017. We shall announce the Winners and Runners Up on our website, and an email will be sent to all applicants who reached Round 2 on whether they are a Winner or Runner Up.
Our Judges are encouraged to provide some written feedback on the songs they listen to but it is not compulsory. If one or more Judges have provided some feedback on your song at Round 2, this will be sent to you in the email that notifies you if you are a Winner or Runner Up.
For the three Competition Winners, the 14 day recording session will be arranged for May 15th-29th 2017 at The Grouse Lodge, Ireland. These winners will receive:
